Bringing You More

With Seattle Woman moving into its third year, it’s only natural that we should tweak our format here and there in our ongoing effort to make the magazine better. So this month, we’re bringing you a few additions we hope you’ll enjoy.

Toward the front of the magazine, two columns – New In Town and Above & Beyond – debut. New in Town is kind of a heads-up on new products, clothing and accessory shops, spas and other women-oriented businesses that we feel you might like to know about. Feel free to let us know if you or someone you know has a new business or product and we will do our best to include them in the column. We’re looking for products and services that are fun and/ or fill an important need in women’s lives.

Above & Beyond highlights acts of kindness by particular women in our community. We’re looking for women who go the extra mile to help others, whether it’s lending their professional expertise pro bono, providing a service free or leading the charge on an important cause. In this issue, you’ll read about Patti Kashiwa, a Bothell dentist who provides dental care to patients who can’t pay in return for their volunteering in the community. Please let us know about other women like Patti, who are giving generously of their time and money to improve the lives of others less fortunate.

And in the interest of R & R, we bring you Bookshelf, a collection of staff picks from neighborhood bookstores to help you keep your nightstand stacked with good reads. We hope to hear from individual book clubs too, so if your group has some recommendations, send them in to bookshelf@ seattlewomanmagazine.com. You can have one member write them up, keeping each recommendation to between 75 and 100 words. Occasionally, we’ll also run longer reviews.

So, if you’ve got tips, send them our way. E-mail me at karen@seattlewomanmagazine.com. Thanks for continuing to read us, and I hope you’ll agree that we are, indeed, getting better with each and every issue.

Warmest regards,

Karen Reed-Matthee
