Although no Western Washington resorts or lodges specifically market babymoons, we recommend these local favorites for a wonderful pregnancy getaway:

Semiahmoo Resort, Blaine: The lodge has a lovely setting on Puget Sound, with a marina, full service spa and two golf courses. 1-800-770-7992; www.semiahmoo.com.

Lake Quinault Lodge: This historic shingled lodge in the heart of the Olympic rainforest has a wonderful, comfortable lobby, lawn games, a pool, massage service and boating activities. 1-800-562-6672; www.visitlakequinault.com.

Kalaloch Lodge, near Forks: The ocean is your spa if you stay in the main lodge or in one of the rustic cabins on the bluff above the Pacific and take one of many short beach walks. 1-866-525-2562; www.visitkalaloch.com.

Rosario Resort and Spa, Eastsound, Orcas Island: You can take a float plane or a ferry to this historic hotel, which includes an Avanyu Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and even a movie theater. 1-866-801-7625; www.rosario.rockresorts.com.

Salish Lodge and Spa, Snoqualmie Falls: The lodge balanced above Snoqualmie Falls has wood-burning fireplaces and whirlpool spas in each room, as well as three restaurants and a full-service, Asian inspired spa. 1-800-272-5474; www.salishlodge.com.

Lake Crescent Lodge, Olympic National Park near Port Angeles: There are no spa or pool services here, but you can stay in the historic lodge or one of the romantic cottages on the shores of Lake Crescent, with boating and fishing. 360-928-3211; www.lakecrescentlodge.com.

Note to pregnant women: The American Medical Association states that air travel is generally safe until the 36th week of gestation, as long as the pregnancy is not high-risk; some airlines may require a doctor’s note after the 32nd week. Make sure that massage therapists are specifically trained in prenatal massage as some parts of the body should not be massaged during pregnancy. Stay away from hot whirlpool baths, steam rooms or body wraps that make you feel hot or constricted.
